Late Cenozoic glaciations on the continents, their influence on the oceans,
their probable causes, and the consequences of the glacial ages on the evolution
and migration of mammals and the emergence of man; in addition this book
contains the first detailed isotopic log and interpretation of ice cores of the
Greenland ice cap, and the first total approach to the fauna found in deep-sea sediments over the glacial ages. (Yale University Press,
