Lisgar March composed by Charles
Huenerbein, sheet music for piano solo; an unique piece of Australiana; this
music was composed to commemorate the auction of the Lisgar Estate in Granville,
Sydney, NSW on Saturday February 20, 1886 at 3 o'clock by Auctioneers Watkin
& Watkin; this real estate development is bounded by High Street, Lackey
Street, Blaxcell Street, Thomas Street, Granville, and includes Lisgar Street, Stuart Street,
Gregory Street and O'Neill Street; the Vendors were Cumberland
Building Land & Investment Co. Ltd; included are the street plans showing
the lot numbers, notice of the auction with description of the development, and
terms of purchase; also included are 4 house designs suitable for the
development prepared by Messrs. Hill & Smith, Architects, with floor plans
and drawings of the houses. The front cover is decorated with colour drawings of
landmarks of Granville in the 1880's: the railway station with a steam train,
established houses, a church, a factory, and a cityscape scene. The rear
cover shows the house designs and house facades in colour. The music
comprises 4 pages, with another 6 pages of information about the development and
sale. No publisher or date, presumably published in 1886. The item
was printed by John Sands Ltd. Oversize. The entire piece is in fair condition: the
fold is completely torn and has been hand-sewn with thread, the edges are
brittle with small tears and small pieces torn away, there is foxing on each
page, however the music and text is clear.
