served in the Middle East flying 22 operational sorties in Kittyhawks with 450 RAAF Squadron, and was later posted to 92 RAF East
India Squadron that formed the first Spitfire Wing with the 8th Army in the Western Desert. After a period on Malta and a stint as an
instructor at an OTU in Egypt, Sly was sent home to serve in the Pacific War, flying with 457 RAAF Squadron on Morotai. Used hardcover
